It's sturdy, and the mount point is good. Installation of the mount was easy enough. Adding a GoPro camera while straight forward, is not ideal. The provided screw and nut for attaching the GoPro are fiddly, and easy to lose when parked at the restaurant, scenic view, or other stop along the way. Using a GoPro thumbscrew helps, but the nut is not captured by the mount, and could very easily be lost. Why would I want to remove the camera while on the road? I'd like to prevent theft when at the restaurant. It's started raining, so I want to pocket the camera. I'd like to change the memory card and swap the battery.
I'd like to see a quick release for the camera, using the GoPro quick release mount. That way I could click the camera on and off without using a screw, Allen wrench and tiny nut.
Short of a quick release, that tiny nut should just be part of the GoldStrike mount, and not separate.
Hi Richard, thank you for your review and feedback! Our intent is to remove the larger black collet nut provided by us. Then the adapter can be “popped” off the ball, leaving a clean, inconspicuous, stainless steel mounting point on the motorcycle. Be sure to store the collet nut with the adapter left attached to the camera. The adapter can then be used on any of our other Goldstrike/Ciro accessory mounts for a variety of camera angles! Your suggestion to re-use the Go-Pro thumbscrew is also an option!
